Hiking offers for new target groups

Hiking – a market of hope

Hiking offers are in demand as never before. Tourist resorts in hiking regions have been enjoying increasing demand for years.

Hiking instead of skiing?

The conditions for winter tourism are becoming increasingly difficult:

When climate change causes temperatures to rise, interest in winter sports declines. After all, artificial snow bands instead of snow-covered landscapes are no longer attractive to many. Added to this are rising prices, war and uncertainty.

Therefore, offers away from winter are more future-oriented. Hiking as a leisure activity is particularly well suited to the zeitgeist.
It is sustainable, inexpensive and suitable for all age groups.
In addition it needs neither previous knowledge nor expensive equipment. But “only” good, creative hiking offers!

Hiking offers – cool & tailor-made

For decades, hiking in the local mountains could not compete with diving vacations in the Maldives.
Hiking was only something for the retired and their grandchildren.
Hiking offers were therefore limited to marked trails and the corresponding hiking maps.

Today, hiking is atttarctive again, for young and old. So there is a need for completely different, more exciting hiking offers to meet the expectations of these new target groups:
For adventurous youngsters and adrenaline junkies, for families with young children, for people with disabilities, for nature lovers thirsty for knowledge, and of course for the 50+ generation.

Each group certainly has different expectations. Therefore, it is important to first select the target group that “fits” the hiking area. And then tailor the hiking offers to them. This offers a great opportunity to attract completely new target groups for the summer and mid-seasons.

That, too, is hiking: Challenging trail running for young, athletic target groups.

Smart hiking offers

  • For people traveling with wheelchairs or strollers, hiking offers must have, for example, easily passable, not too steep paths. In addition, refreshment stops with accessible toilets and changing tables.
  • For older children, adventure trails, themed trails, children’s playgrounds or petting zoos are welcome highlights of a hike. Interactive elements, guessing and collecting games also go down well.
  • Tree-top trails, river hikes, climbing walls and challenging mountain tours are highly popular with sporty youngsters. Geocaching, the modern scavenger hunt with GPS and smartphone, can spice up hiking activities. Around the world, more and more people, especially young people, are going on this kind of “treasure hunt.” In spring 2019, there were already three million geocachers!
  • Hiking offers for nature and culture fans include visits to local museums, restored mills and to beekeepers, herb women and organic farmers. Themed trails with detailed (audio) information on flora, fauna, history and sights are particularly popular with these target groups.
