The term “storytelling” is on everyone’s lips in marketing. At the same time, the use of voice assistants is increasing enormously.
Because the comfort is simply unbeatable! Whether navigation system, smartphone or Alexa: hands and eyes remain free.
That’s why it makes sense to combine storytelling with voice assistants.
It’s innovative, comfortable and contactless, in other words secure.
To let navigation systems, smartphones, Alexa and co speak, a so-called “Text-to-Speech Engine” (TTS) is used.
For this purpose, voice recordings are first made by professional speakers. In the process, the text selection is based on the usual vocabulary.
The accompanying sophisticated software contains all rules for syntax, pronunciation and intonation. This makes it possible to vocalize even words that are not included in the audio recordings. In this way, the TTS can therefore “read out” any written text.
Even the announcements at airports or in subways are nowadays entered as text, and then spoken by a TTS.
This ensures that the pronunciation is correct and understandable.
Above all, it is always the same voice – 24/7 – and not that of constantly changing employees with different speaking talents. For example, the Vienna Public Transport Authority uses a TTS with the voice of a well-known Viennese actress. Exclusively as the “voice of Viennas public transport”.
You will need TTS software to do this. Unfortunately, high-quality TTS are expensive and complex, and licenses are tied to end devices.
But the story should be told on the product or the information board. Not only on your own, license-entitled device!
Storytelling with voice assistants therefore requires a TTS license model with easy creation and the possibility of duplication and distribution.
Alternatives would be to create your own voice recordings or to create them in a studio. But it is not so easy to speak texts clearly and without mistakes, so that they are easy to understand afterwards. Professional speakers in the studio are again very expensive. So both are cumbersome.
Such audio recordings can then only be offered as MP3 for download or live stream. The disadvantage of this is, that a good and free Internet connection must be guaranteed.
More about digitisation in tourism
With SpeechCode you can comfortably and safely enter your stories online into the Speech Generator (TTS). Each story can be up to 30 minutes long!
Then the “story” is transferred into a data code or NFC tag. These are simply printed on the product or stuck on a sign.
Users call up the story with the free speechcode app, and they can immediately listen to your story. And all this without the need for an internet connection and streaming! That means it works always, everywhere and guaranteed free of charge.
Storytelling with voice assistants allows you to tell up-to-date stories at any time: Fast, easy and at no extra cost!
The annual license fees include an unlimited number of speech files and their unlimited reproduction and distribution.
Get out of crisis mode! Despite all the problems, it is important to adjust quickly to the new conditions. And to think about the time after the crisis.
So what will happen this summer? No international guests, but almost all domestic tourists! In 2019, almost three quarters of holidaymakers in Austria went abroad. That’s a nice potential!
Obviously we have to attract these domestic individual guests. With secure offers and activities, with contactless information. And with stories and histories to enjoy. To make the destination and outdoor activities even more attractive.
So that you can immediately implement your storytelling with voice assistants without risk and without immediate costs, we offer all tourism professionals our
